Energy Innovation

Since the beginning of human history, advancement in energy technology has driven societal modernization, economic growth, and human longevity.
Within the last two centuries, the world has seen enormous progress in these areas, but at a cost: increased greenhouse gas emissions that have changed earth’s atmosphere and increased extreme weather patterns.
Energy demand—having flatlined in the U.S. for the past 20 years while global demand grew—is now increasing at an astonishing rate, especially in the U.S.
Globally, we must double the energy infrastructure we’ve built over the last 120 years by 2050 in order to support the increasing energy demands of consumers (e.g., transportation, home cooling/heating), businesses (e.g., automation, electrification), and the AI revolution (e.g., data centers).
We need to grow low-emission sources of power that operate around the clock, reliably, and at lower cost. Energy innovation is poised to address this demand. Fusion power, small modular reactors, and geothermal are but a few technologies that American entrepreneurs are driving forward to meet the moment. Coupled with advancements in industrial heat, solar, and long-duration storage, we are charting—and building—the course for the near future, and beyond.
